2nd Annual Benefit Walk, 9/30/09

We are hugely grateful to the more than 50 supporters who joined us on Sunday, September 20th, 2009 for our 2nd Annual Walk through Habitat Wildlife Sanctuary.

Like our 2008 Walk which launched the Jay Kistler Foundation, we met outside Belmont Hill School's beautiful Jordan Athletic Center for registration, t-shirts and bracelets. Walkers were once again thanked with a cookout following the Walk. And for the second year, we were blessed with beautiful sunny weather.

Mike Kinnealey, former Director of the Belmont Hill School Summer Program, conveyed the school's appreciation as he spoke about the 2008 winner of the first Jay Kistler Memorial Scholarship to Belmont Hill's Summer School.

Dr. Tom Irwin, Program Director of The McLean Center at Fernside, expressed McLean's thanks and presented a progress report on the physical improvements to Fernside's art therapy room being funded by the Foundation. He stressed the importance of raising awareness of the reality of substance abuse and the critical need for more widespread treatment.

Thanks to donations from several retailers and organizations, we held an expanded version of our first-year prize raffle, with items from concert and ski tickets to gourmet food baskets, jewelry, men's and women's skincare products and a variety of gift certificates. And along with contributions from our supporters, we are thrilled to report that our goal of $10,000 for 2009 was achieved!

Plans are already in the works for our 2010 fundraising event. Look for details here in the upcoming months!
